Updates, Amendments and Revisions

IFR currency requirements under CARs 401.05 have recently changed. Replace para. 4 at s. 1.06 Instrument Rating with the following:

4. Once issued, an instrument rating is valid for 24 months. No holder of an IFR rating shall exercise the privileges their IFR rating unless, following the first day of the 7th month after the completion of an IFR flight test or check flight and within 6 months before the flight, the holder has completed at least 6 instrument approaches to CAP minima in an aircraft under actual or simulated IMC, approved flight simulator or as an instructor. The holder is required to keep a record (e.g. within their pilot logbook) proving they have met applicable IFR recency requirements and to retain the record for at least 3 years.
